GBAA Portrait
The working group on business aviation in the Federation of German Industries (BDI) was founded on 22nd June 1970. Since then its task has been to represent the interests of business aviation in the Federal Republic of Germany.
The working group on business aviation is a founder member of the IAC (International Aviation Council) which has been in existence since 13th September 1981.
On 5th June 1985 the German Business Aviation Association (GBAA) was founded in Wolfsburg. Membership of the GBAA is composed both of German firms which use their own aircraft for corporate flights as well as executive charter firms which offer aircraft for business trips.
In accordance with its statutes, the GBAA has set itself the task of representing and promoting the interests of business aviation both nationally and internationally. There is a special focus on co-operation with and financial support of the IBAC which has a seat at the International Civil Aviation Organisation ICAO in Montreal, Canada.
In addition, the GBAA is a member of the EBAA (European Business Aviation Association, Tervuren/Belgium).
Chairman of the GBAA is Dr. Bernd Gans, formerly DaimlerChrysler AG; Deputies are Ralf Schwiebus, Volkswagen AG, and Peter Gatz, Private Wings Flugcharter GmbH.
The administration of the GBAA is performed by Hans-Henning Romberg, CEO of GBAA.
